A dental partner for your sleep patients.
Dr. Paige Lester provides oral appliance therapy for adults with obstructive sleep apnea and primary snoring, working alongside the physicians who diagnose and manage them.
Who to refer
Consistent with the AASM/AADSM clinical practice guideline for oral appliance therapy, appropriate referrals include adults with:
- Primary snoring without obstructive sleep apnea
- Mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea
- Obstructive sleep apnea with CPAP intolerance, when an appliance is appropriate for the patient’s severity
- Severe OSA on CPAP who may benefit from adjunctive combination therapy
Patients need adequate healthy teeth to retain an appliance. Dr. Lester evaluates dental and TMJ health at the consultation and will let you know if a patient is not a good candidate.
How we work together
Referral
Call our office with the patient’s information and most recent sleep study, or have the patient contact us directly.
Dental evaluation
Dr. Lester examines teeth, periodontal health, bite and jaw joints, and confirms the patient is a suitable candidate.
Custom, titratable appliance
A custom appliance is fabricated and fitted, then titrated over follow-up visits for comfort and efficacy.
Verification and communication
A follow-up sleep study with the appliance in place may be recommended. We keep you informed of treatment progress.
Testing options for undiagnosed patients
For patients without a current diagnosis, we offer home sleep apnea testing through our Rest Assured service. Results are sent to Dr. Lester for review, and we coordinate with you on diagnosis and next steps.
